This year we partnered with Rainbow Collection to shed a light on how foresights can be used for business purposes, and why we really should. Rainbow Collection helps businesses to build a sustainable future for themselves and the world around them and find ways to shape a future that are of added benefit to both the company and the world. To do so a string vision about the future is essential.
According to Rainbow Collection the future means two things. First the concept 'the future' gives businesses the opportunity to start thinking and ask themselves to what future they want to contribute as a company. That makes it more tangible and translates this future into attainable goals in which the company can actively participate. It also brings about the awareness that a company is also responsible for the future. Its not something that wil happen to you, but something you can actively shape. The second meaning of the future is more of a message: If we want a future in which there will be enough resources left for generations to come, where the earth is still inhabitable, and in which wellbeing matters more than just wealth alone we have to start making changes. Together we will have to build a new economy. A new economy will not only make this kind of world possible, it will also lead to many new opportunities for business growth and innovation.
Diewertje Damen, Managing Director of Rainbow Collection, also shared some insight from research the company did earlier this year on how businesses can become more future proof. One of the 4 key components of building a future proof business, Rainbow concluded, is using trend and foresights. Businesses that have succeeded to implement changes moved through 3 steps.
- They have a good understanding of bigger trends, developments, and challenges in the world
- They succeed in translating this into a vision for their company
- They use this company specific vision for all innovation, both technological and organisational.
